OK, Pelvoux does not reach 4000m. But it is a fabulous mountain. The rappels are countless. You are often almost completely surrounded by rock. It gives the feeling of climbing in the mountain instead of on it. The walls and faces seem to be vertical everywhere. It is also a complicated mountain. Vertical walls, ridges and summits all over the place. Route finding is not easy, too. It must be a scary place when visibility is low. I think Mont Pelvoux is different.
